Heads of State Black have taken out the inaugural Division II Nationals held in Melbourne over the 14-15th April.
Heads of State Black is a team of young guys that for the most part took part in Heads of State’s pre-season mens league.
We went undefeated throughout the weekend to take the title from Quoll (also undeafeated until the final) in a thrilling final that went down to the last point (14-12 final score). The only other testing game was against Funny Duck our first game of the tournament wining on universal point 11-10.
With a strong and consistent northerly blowing all weekend we developed a winning strategy. Our strongest handler, Moby, played the upwind points and the experienced captain, Andy, playing the downwind points pretty much hitting our huge recievers all day in the endzone. We would of only let in a handful of upwind points all tournament and the guys who played into that stiff breeze were the real champions for the weekend. The speed, agility, superior aerial game and cool heads are what set us apart from the other teams. If you want to win a tournament, get 16 guys who are prepared to run their guts out and know their role in a team.
